San Felipe Fort

Due to the continuous attacks by the pirates who tried to steal goods and merchandises imported from Spain, the Fort of San Felipe de Lara was built under the orders of King Philip II in 1595.  Now restored, visitor can walk throughout the fort with information available on how the various areas were used.  A restaurant and handicrafts vendors, as well as a swimming area on site.
