Water reservoirs

Near Tikal and other Maya cities there were and there is no bodies of water, so the villagers created their own reservoirs known as "Aguadas".  Tikal had more than five aguadas, leading researchers to believe it was well developed. Today there is still one left, containing water and it´s located next to the visitor´s center.
